Answers about pricing, Smart Actions, your data, and how the cataloging works.
Sign up with your email or a Google/Apple account — no credit card required. You get full access for 7 days: up to 2,000 items, photo cataloging, and cloud sync. When the trial ends, choose a plan to keep going.
Take a photo of an item with your device's camera. The scan analyzes the image and fills in the item name, description, category, and an estimated value, which you review and can edit before saving. Recognition runs on Google Gemini.
Yes. You can add items manually through a form, or describe them to Iris by voice or text — 'I have a drill in the garage toolbox' creates the item hands-free. Voice input is always free.
Smart Actions power ToteTracker's intelligent features. Every subscription includes 100 Smart Actions per month. Single-item photo analysis uses 1 action, multi-item scanning uses 1 action plus 1 per detected item, and Iris chat is billed on what each reply actually uses rather than a flat rate. Voice input is always free.
For most households, 100 monthly Smart Actions covers normal use. A session cataloging 30 items with photos uses about 30-40 actions. If you're doing a major inventory project (like cataloging an entire home at once), you can purchase additional action packs: 500 for $5 or 1,200 for $10. Purchased actions never expire.
If you use all your Smart Actions, you can still browse your inventory, edit items manually, organize containers, and search everything you've cataloged. Only the AI-powered features (photo analysis, multi-item scan, and assistant) pause until your actions refresh next month or you purchase more. We'll notify you when you're running low.
Up to 100 monthly Smart Actions can roll over to the next billing cycle (one month's worth). Any action packs you purchase separately roll over forever — they never expire regardless of your subscription status. Monthly actions are always consumed first.
Yes. Create containers like rooms, buildings, boxes, and shelves, then nest them however your space is laid out — for example Building > Room > Shelf > Box. Every item records exactly which container it's in.
Smart Search uses semantic understanding to find items by meaning, not just exact keywords. Search 'winter gear' and find your snow jacket, ski gloves, and wool scarf—even if you named them differently. It combines instant local matching with AI-powered semantic search to give you the best results. Smart Search is free to use and doesn't consume any Smart Actions.
When you save a new item, ToteTracker checks it against what you've already cataloged and flags a likely match before it saves. You decide what happens: add it as a separate item, add to the quantity, or update the existing item's location, so you don't end up with two records of the same thing. You can also review similar items already in your inventory and merge the ones that match. Nothing merges until you confirm it.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use Supabase (built on PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies, so only you and the people you invite to a shared inventory can read it. Images are stored in cloud storage with private access controls, and you can export your data anytime.
Yes. On Android, install the ToteTracker app from Google Play. On any other device — desktop, laptop, tablet, or iPhone — ToteTracker runs in the browser and installs like an app: add it to your home screen on iPhone, or use your browser's Install option on desktop. For security, you can be logged in on up to 2 devices at once; signing in on a third signs out the oldest session. Your data syncs in real time across devices.

Yes. You can browse your inventory and view cached data without an internet connection. Changes sync automatically when you're back online.
Yes. Shared inventory lets a household, couple, or small team see and edit the same containers and items. As the owner, you invite people by email from Settings → Sharing, and they click the link to join, whether or not they already have an account. Everyone can add, edit, and delete items and containers, and each member can switch between their own inventory and any shared with them. Sharing is per seat: every member needs their own active subscription or free trial. Smart Actions are deducted from whoever performs the action.
Every account gets its own inventory at signup, so a solo user never has to think about it. To share, the owner invites people by email from Settings → Sharing, and the invitee joins by clicking the link in the email — it works whether or not they already have an account, and it expires after about a week. Members switch between their own inventory and any shared with them from the inventory switcher, and the active inventory scopes the whole app, including Smart Search and Iris. There are two roles: the owner can invite and remove members, rename, delete, and transfer ownership; members can read and write. Both can add, edit, and delete items and containers. Because you invite by email and there are no display names, members of a shared inventory can see each other's email addresses.
The AI provides estimated values based on common market prices and visual analysis. These are estimates and should be verified for important use cases like insurance claims. You can always manually adjust the value for any item.
Yes. Each item carries a photo, description, value, and location — the documentation an insurance claim asks for. People also build inventories for moving, estate planning, and general organization.
