A 3-minute overview of setting up and cataloging

Getting started

From signup to a working inventory, with sharing when you want it

1

Sign up and start the trial

Create your account and start the free trial — no credit card required. On Android, you can also install the app from Google Play; everywhere else ToteTracker runs in the browser.

2

Set up containers

Create your first storage locations (rooms, boxes, shelves). Think about where your items are currently stored.

3

Add your first items

Photograph items to catalog them with the camera, or enter details manually.

4

Organize and refine

Create nested containers, move items between locations, and build out your inventory.

5

Invite your household (optional)

As the owner, invite a partner or household member by email to view and edit the same inventory. Each person needs their own trial or subscription.

Start small

Don't try to catalog the whole house at once. Start with one room or one storage box, then expand once the workflow feels familiar. Most people catalog 20-30 items in about 15 minutes with the photo scan.

Tips

Small habits that make the catalog more useful

Use good lighting

Take photos in well-lit areas for better recognition. Natural light works best.

Plan your hierarchy

Think about your organization before creating containers. A typical structure: Building > Room > Furniture > Box.

Multiple items in one photo

Use 'Scan Multiple Items' to catalog several items from a single photo — useful for shelves or box contents.

Quick add with Iris

Describe what you have, by text or voice, and Iris drafts the items and containers — no forms.

Review suggestions

Always review detected values and descriptions. The scan is usually right, not always — adjust before saving.

Stretch your Smart Actions

Multi-item scan is efficient: 5 items in one photo uses 6 actions instead of 5 individual scans. That makes your 100 monthly actions cover more.

Switch inventories to scope search

If you share an inventory, the active inventory scopes the whole app. Switch inventories to search or ask Iris about a household's shared things, or just your own.

Catalog your first room today.

The trial doesn't ask for a card, and the first room takes about 15 minutes.
